好的朗讀不僅能清楚地傳達書面文字的意思，還能傳遞朗讀者的情感，從而增強語言的表現力。要成為一名優秀的母語朗讀者也不是一件容易的事，更何況外語。但通過指導和訓練至少能讓我們朗讀得更好。好的英語朗讀有以下幾個標準：一、單詞發音準確
無論是元音還是輔音，發音一定要到位。如果你的發音不正確，別人很可能聽不出你在念哪個詞，或者聽成了
另外一個單詞。比如，把heard誤念成/h?r/
，或把quiet誤念成/kwa?t/
，別人就完全聽不懂。重音錯誤也會導致誤解，如permit/p?m?t/是動詞“準許”，而permit/?p?rm?t/是名詞“許可證”。經常被念錯的詞有wonder和wander,
work和walk
。此外，最好學說一種英語的發音，如美國英語或英國英語，而不要混用兩種發音。
二、語流中的音變

四、有高低音和升降調
一般而言，陳述句、祈使句和特殊疑問句用降調，一般疑問句用聲調。但實際情況比較復雜，需視說話人的語氣、情緒而定。
總之，好的朗讀應該發音標準（一種口音）、連貫流暢（連讀、不爆破）、有節奏感（輕重音，快慢）、升降起伏、生動傳情（沉穩、柔美、嚴肅、活潑、激情等等）。
