在非洲有一條大河，大河的岸上長著許多棕櫚樹，大河的中心是個小島，島上長著許多香蕉樹。
這大河里住著兩條鱷魚，一大一小，大的是媽媽，小的是孩子。
有一天，他們浮在水面上，忽然大鱷魚對小鱷魚說：“孩子，你瞧，瞧岸上那棵棕櫚樹！”
小鱷魚一看，啊，那棵棕櫚樹上有只小猴子，活蹦亂跳的。
大鱷魚說：“媽媽這幾天嘴巴淡得很，想吃點什么新鮮的。孩子，你去把那猴子捉了來，我要吃他的心。”
小鱷魚一聽發了愁：“媽呀，我怎么捉得住猴子呢？猴子下不了水，我又爬不了樹。這事兒不好辦。”
大鱷魚說：“你好好兒想一想，會想出辦法來的。”
小鱷魚想了好半天，真的想出個辦法來了，他爬上了岸，爬到棕櫚樹跟前，仰著頭，對小猴子說：“你玩了這半天，肚子不餓嗎？”
小猴子聽小鱷魚這么一說，真的覺得餓了，一按肚子，咕嚕咕嚕地叫。
“你想吃香蕉嗎？你瞧，那個小島上香蕉可多啦！”
小猴子搖搖頭說：“不行啊，我不會游水，怎么去呀？”
小鱷魚說：“咱們是老鄰居了，我來幫你個忙吧！你騎在我的背上，我把你帶到小島上去，讓你吃個痛快。”
“啊！那太好了！嘻嘻嘻……我得謝謝你了！嘻嘻嘻……”小猴子從樹上跳下來，正好跳到小鱷魚的背上。
小鱷魚馱著小猴子下了河，游呀，游呀，突然，把身子往下一沉，嚇得小猴子哇哇叫：“哎呀，小鱷魚，你可別開玩笑，我會淹死的。你快點游，游到小島上去，我好吃香蕉。”
小鱷魚笑著說：“嘿嘿，你想吃香蕉？我媽正等著吃你的心哪。”
小猴子這才知道自己嘴饞，上了小鱷魚的當。怎么辦呢？他想了一想，對小鱷魚說：“你媽想吃我的心，好啊，你怎么不早告訴我？我光想著吃香蕉，把嘴帶來了，可沒把心帶了來。”
“那你的心呢？”
“我的心擱在棕櫚樹上呢。”
小鱷魚一聽，傻了，就說：“咱們快回到岸上去，你把你的心帶了來。”說完，轉過身子，游到岸邊，小猴子連忙跳上岸去，三蹦兩跳的上了棕櫚樹。

THE MONKEY AND THE CROCODILE One day a little monkey was playing in a tall tree by the river. A crocodile was swimming slowly near the bank with her baby. She looked around for some food. Suddenly she saw the monkey. "Aha, there's my meal," she thought. She then turn to her son, "Do you love me, Son?" "Why, of course, Mum!" the baby crocodile said. "Well then, you catch the monkey and give me his heart to eat." "But how can I?" the baby crocodile asked. "Monkeys can't swim, and I can't climb trees." "You needn't climb the tree," his mother said. "Use your head, then you will find a way." The baby crocodile thought hard. Then he had an idea. He swam near the tree and shouted, "Hey, Monkey! Would you like some bananas?" "Bananas! Mm! I love them," said the monkey. "But where are they?" "On the other side of the river. There are some banana trees there, and they have lots of bananas on them. I'll take you there on my back." "Good," the monkey came down and jumped onto the crocodile's back. Soon they were in the middle of the river. Suddenly the crocodile went down under the water. When he came up again, the monkey was all wet. "Don't do that!" The monkey cried. "Don't do that again! Soon they reached the bank. The monkey jumped off the crocodile at once, picked up a big stone and quickly climbed up the tree. The crocodile waited for the monkey to come down again. As he was waiting, hesuddenly heard a voice from above: "Hey, Crocodile!" The crocodile looked up. The monkey was hanging from the tree by his tail and laughing. 'Here's my heart. Come up and get it. Don't keep your mother waiting…You can't come up? Well, catch!' With these words, he threw the big stone at the crocodile.。

而此時，一只長頸鹿正悠閑的向河邊走來，它剛剛吃飽，打算喝水潤潤嗓子，看到河邊的情況危急，三步并作兩步趕到河邊，站到干岸上伸出脖子打算用嘴將猴子叼起來，卻怎么也使不上力氣，情況越來越危急，鱷魚已經游到5米之內了，悲劇會馬上在眼前發生。猴子急中生智，伸出兩臂抱住了長頸鹿的脖子，長頸鹿憋足力氣，往后一拽，終于將猴子扯出了泥潭。
鱷魚無可奈何，悻悻的沉入水中，它在想一只兔子也許會來的。

湖里住著一條鱷魚，它每天都靠吞食龍神果實過活，無需辛辛苦苦到遠方去尋找食物，所以生活也過得挺舒服，不受任何干擾。 但是世間的一切沒有一樣是永恒不變的，也沒有一樣可以始終不受干擾。
一天，一只狒狒因為跟同伙發生爭吵，一氣之下就離開了同伴。它孤獨地漫無目的地四處亂轉，遠遠就看到這棵高大挺直的龍神樹，而且還看到樹上掛滿了紅色的果實。
它決定朝這棵樹走去，當狒狒跑到龍神樹底下時入鱷魚還在睡大覺，什么也不知道。狒狒上了樹，它專揀熟透的果實吃，稍有點生的就往湖里扔，因為嫌它們太酸太澀了。
過了好一會兒，鱷魚才從睡夢中醒來。它感到餓了，就拾起掉在水中的果實吃，但說來也怪，現在吃到的果實味道跟過去大不一樣，又澀又難吃。
它正感到納悶，突然發現果實上有啃過的齒痕，再朝樹頂上一望，只見一只狒狒正坐在樹上悠閑自在地摘果子吃。鱷魚心中不禁升起一股無名怒火，可又想不出什么好辦法把狒狒干掉，因為狒狒不肯下樹來或到湖邊上去喝水。
鱷魚只好忍著一肚子的氣尋找機會來吃掉狒狒。 一天，鱷魚對狒狒說：“喂，狒狒！你愿意跟我交朋友嗎？”狒狒說： “當然愿意，我很高興跟你交朋友！”于是，狒狒便跟鱷魚交上了朋友。
一次，鱷魚邀請拂沸到湖對面去探望它生病的老媽媽。狒狒愉快地接受了鱷魚的邀請。
鱷魚讓狒狒騎在自己的背上向大湖對岸游去。當鱷魚游到湖中心時，便對狒狒說：“我媽媽的病就是要吃狒狒的肝才能治好！”狒狒聽了大吃一驚，心想，這下可糟了，得想個計策脫身才好。
狒狒情急智生，很同情似地對鱷魚說：“哎呀，你怎么不早說呢，如果真要用我的肝來治你娘的病，那你趕快把我馱回岸上去，我的肝還掛在樹上呢！” 鱷魚信以為真，又游回岸邊來。一靠岸，狒狒就忙忙跳上岸，一溜煙地爬到樹上去了，再也不肯下來。
鱷魚張嘴結舌，眼巴巴地看著狒狒上了樹。一場美夢破滅了，這就是騙人者反而受騙上當。
