這就是trick or treat這首兒童的歌曲了。
萬圣節前夜是兒童們縱情玩鬧的好時候。當夜幕降臨時，孩子們便穿上五顏六色的化妝服，戴上各種妖怪式的面具。不少孩子還手提一盞“杰克燈”。杰克燈的做法是將南瓜掏空，內插一支小臘燭，外面刻上笑瞇瞇的的眼睛和大嘴巴。蠟燭點燃后，人們在很遠的地方便可看到刻在瓜上這張憨態可掬的笑臉。在月光照耀下，孩子們來到鄰居前，威嚇般地喊著：“TRICK-OR-TREAT”。意思是“耍惡作劇還是給予款待。”如得不到款待，調皮的孩子就會把人家門上的拉手涂上肥皂，或者把別人和貓涂上顏色。這些小惡作劇常令大人們啼笑皆非。大多數人家則早早備好糖果，以款待這些天真爛漫的小客人。許多成年人則把自已打扮成孩子或動物或各種各樣的模樣，聚集于廣場，或群游于街頭，載歌載舞，互開玩笑。
