否定副詞或短語+謂語+主語這類表示否定意義的詞有never,seldom,scarcely,little,few,not,hardly，以及not only…but (also),no sooner…than,hardly… when ,scarcely… when 等等.如：Not only did he refuse the gift,he also severely criticized the sender.他沒有收下禮物，還狠狠批評了送禮的人.Hardly had she gone out when a student came to visit her.她剛出門，就有個學生來訪.No sooner had she gone out than a student came to visit her.她剛出門，就有個學生來訪.注意：只有當Not only… but also連接兩個分句時，才在第一個分句用倒裝結構.如果置于句首的Not only… but also僅連接兩個并列詞語，不可用倒裝結構，如Not only you but also I am fond of music。
二、什么時候倒裝
含有否定意義的詞放句首，部分倒裝。
具體情況如下： 1.具有否定意義的副詞放句首：nor ,never, not, seldom, hardly, rarely. little, scarcely , few 2.含有否定意義的連詞放句首： not only…but also.., no sooner…than.., Hardly…when.., not until。not only, no sooner, hardly, not until要倒，but (also), than, when ,until后面的句子不倒. Neither. nor..兩部分都倒裝。
3.含有否定意義的介詞放句首：by no means, in no way, at no time, in no case, on no account, under no circumstances。
三、關于倒裝句
1.否定詞用于句首時，句子應進行部分倒裝否定詞常用的有：Not only…（but also）, Not until（直到…..才），No sooner….（than）（一…..就） Never/ Rarely/SeldomFew/Little Neither/Nor （也不） Nwhere Hardly/Scarcely… （when）At no time Under no circumstances（決不）On no account （決不） In no way其中not only,no sooner,hardly,scarcely 分別和but (also),than,when搭配使用，需注意：后一組詞之后的部分不進行倒裝，只有否定詞之后的部分倒裝2.副詞提至句首引起倒裝，1)only + 副詞（when,before,if,after等）2) often,such,so等副詞提前，部分倒裝3)in,out,down,up,away,off,here,there,over等副詞提前，全部倒裝。
