【Mother】 by Herman de Coninck
translated by Kurt Brown and Laure-Anne Bosselaar
What you do with time
is what a grandmother clock
does with it: strike twelve
and take its time doing it.
You're the clock: time passes,
you remain. And wait.
Waiting is what happens to
a snow-covered garden,
a trunk under moss,
hope for better times
in the nineteenth century,
or words in a poem.
For poetry is about letting things
grow moldy together, like grapes
turning into wine, reality into preserves,
and hoarding words
in the cellar of yourself.
Mothers
Friends and lovers may come and go,
but mothers are forever as you know!
Mothers love you good or bad,
My mothers the very best freind,I've ever had.
There is nothing more precious on earth,
other than the day when she gave birth.
No matter how far away or so near,
your the one that I hold so dear!
Now there's only one more thing to say。
happy。Happy。Happy Mothers Day!
Betty Jean Walters
Mother Machree
There's a spot in my heart
which no colleen may own;
There's a depth in my soul
never sounded or known;
There's a place in my memory
my life that you fill;
No other can take it
no one ever will;
Every sorrow or care
in the dear days gone by;
Was made bright by the light
of the smile in your eye;
Like a candle that's set
in a window at night;
Your fond love has cheered me and guided me right;
Sure I love the dear silver
that shines in your hair;
And the brow that's all furrowed
and wrinkled with care;
I kiss the dear fingers
so toil warm for me;
Oh!God bless you and keep you,mother machree!
哪個少女也難問津;
永遠無人有此真情;
使煩勞轉為光明;
引領我一直前進;
雙手柔情溫暖我心房;
Mother's Hands 母親的手 by Janie Emaus As teenagers we live in a different world from our mothers, a world where mothers hang out on the peripheries. Of course, almost everyone has one; they are unavoidable annoyances. Today, as I approach that edge, as I am the one with the teenage daughter, I look at my mother through different eyes. And I sometimes wish I could halt the years and stop her from growing older, stop her from repeating herself.
We sit at my kitchen table as the sun designs a mosaic of light on the tile floor. My daughter, Anna, sits next to my mother. "When is Rick going to be here?" my mother asks, referring to my husband. "I don't know, Mom," I answer patiently. "He'll be here for dinner."
I sigh and get up from the table. This is at least the tenth time she has asked that question in as many minutes. While my mother and daughter play Monopoly, I busy myself making a salad. "Don't put in any onions," Mom says. "You know how Daddy hates onions."
"Yes, Mom," I answer, shoving the scallions back into the fridge. I scrub off a carrot and chop it into bite-size pieces. I thrust the knife into the carrot with more force than is necessary. A slice falls onto the floor.
"Don't put any onions in the salad," she reminds me. "You know how Daddy hates onions." This time I can't answer. I just keep cutting. Chopping. Tearing. If only I could chop away the years. Shred the age from my mother's face and hands.
My mother had been beautiful. She still is. In fact, my mother is still everything she has been, just a bit forgetful. I try to convince myself that's all that it is, and if she really concentrated, she would not repeat herself so much. There isn't anything wrong with her.
I cut off the end of the cucumber and rub it against the stalk to take away the bitterness. The white juice oozes out the sides. Wouldn't it be nice if all unpleasant situations could be so easily remedied? Cut and rub. This is a trick I have learned from my mother, along with a trillion other things: cooking, sewing, dating, laughing, thinking. I learned how to grow up. I learned the art of sorting through emotions.
And I learned that when my mother was around, I never had to be afraid. So why am I afraid now? I study my mother's hands. Her nails are no longer a bright red, but painted a light pink, almost no color at all. And as I stare at them, I realize I am no longer looking at those hands but feeling them as they shaped my youth. Hands that packed a thousand lunches and wiped a million tears off my cheeks. Hands that tucked confidence into each day of my life.
I turn away and throw the cucumber into the bowl. And then it hits me. My 。
1Hello,hello,My mather ,you find?you happy?I very love you! Happy ,you happy! I love you ,I love you!
I wrote my name on the tree,
but the time washed it away.
I wrote my name on the road,
but the rain washed it away.
I wrote my name on my hand,
but the soap washed it away.
Today,
I write my name on the birthday card,
and I'll send it to my mother.
I know it would be there forever,
just as the one in my mother's heart

The same wind is caressing you and me,
The same cloud drifts past us
The same blood runs in our veins
And when the night falls, we shall meet again,
In the same dream
These will never change, O my dear mother,
No matter how old time shall grow
