創作背景：
早在1997年的時候，影片的制片人大衛·海曼就在物色一個兒童片的劇本，當他的助手把羅琳的《哈利·波特與魔法石》推薦給海曼時，這本書還靜靜地躺在書店的貨架上，無人問津。
海曼接連和羅琳吃了幾頓午餐，商討改編的事情，最后終于敲定在1999年由斯蒂文·克勞夫斯將這本書改編成電影搬上銀幕。
電影評價：
這是一個開啟了十年魔法世界的序曲，《哈利·波特與魔法石》憑借將魔法融入滿是夢幻的奇想，在一群懵懂可人的小演員中以滿載歡的劇情樂呈現著正義與友誼的珍貴。
