其實這部片子已經看了很多遍，一個人關著燈的時候，有月亮的晚上，沒有月亮的晚上。
之后又推薦它給所有熟悉的朋友看，卻總感覺有賺回扣的嫌疑。 因為，片子實在拍的很美，音樂也實在做的很美。
行文才至此，已經不得不感慨自己形容能力的鄙薄了。世界上有如此之多的辭藻，而挑來選去，只有這個給世人用的俗濫不堪的“美”能一言蔽之。
電影的故事并不算復雜，說穿了不過是一個家庭的三個兒子愛上了同一個女子的愛恨糾葛，其中又夾雜了戰爭的慘酷，父子情兄弟情的真摯和莎士比亞式的悲劇毀滅情結，不管怎樣，故事始終是以情為主線的，正是這種復雜的情感與獨特的故事背景賦與影片濃厚的歐洲人文精神，使之有別于其他美國文藝影片。 一、關于男主人公Tristin 電影的英文名是《Legends of the Fall》，所以它還有一個譯名叫《秋日傳奇》。

很難講究竟是《燃情歲月》成就了Pitt在今日好萊塢的“天王”地位，還是Pitt脫俗的俊朗與精湛的演技成就了《燃情歲月》的輝煌，或者間而有之的吧。總之，在Pitt主演的影片中，《燃情歲月》是第一流的。

總覺得這部電影是屬于性情中人的。
因為這是部至情至性的影片講述的是父子間，兄弟間，情人間那種無須言語而更顯深邃的情感。 握著雙管獵槍，坐在門前搖椅上老去的父親魯德羅上校。
看得出他最喜歡的是二兒子屈斯坦，因為他最像年輕時的自己，雖然狂放不羈，卻擁有俠士般的劍膽琴心。而大兒子阿弗萊德刻板理智，深于城府；小兒子山繆浮躁感性，尚嫌幼稚。
但他努力掩藏這種感情，他想要自己的三個兒子覺得，他對他們的愛是公平的，并沒有厚此薄彼。只是這是件很難做到的事情。
尤其是當山繆戰死，屈斯坦陷于自責的泥潭，阿弗萊德走上從政的道路之后。愈發蒼老的他，已無力刻意維系那一種平衡。
而更顯露出對屈斯坦的愛憐，甚至有那么點放縱。 很少見有如阿弗萊德、屈斯坦和山繆般親密無間的兄弟。
確實如此，但這只限于影片開始時的那一部分。而當一個名叫蘇珊娜的少女以山繆未婚妻的名義出現后，這一切開始發生了改變。

而當浪子回頭時，一切都已不再是從前…… 至始至終，在我看這部影片時，我的心總是壓抑的，從沒有愉悅過。片中的所有主要角色在我看來都是悲劇性的。
對于魯德羅上校，長子與次子反目，幼子亡故。對于阿弗萊德、屈斯坦和蘇珊娜，他們都失去了山繆，失去了所愛，甚至連自己也都失落了。
而山繆或許是其中最幸福的，他用死換得了解脫。 太重感情總是難以決斷，無法放下就會再難拾起。

他眼睜睜的看著山莫死在德軍的機槍下，他旁若無人的哭喊，他詛咒著上帝，他按著古老的印地安儀式揮刀取出自己弟弟的心臟。 他的弟弟死了，他的哥哥艾弗雷德帶著心靈上的創傷離開了草原，他的父親因為中風而備受折磨，他的媽媽在他很小的時候就已經離開了這個家，理由僅僅是那里的冬天太寒冷。
戰爭結束后，崔斯汀沒有回家，他把自己的身心交給了外面的世界，仿佛他一直都是這樣的游蕩。 然后突然有一天勁風襲來，他回家了，金色的長發在放中飛揚如招展的旗幟，那是一種不羈的韻律，同時也帶著無限的蒼茫與空曠。
當崔斯汀回到農場時，他與蘇珊之間的愛情爆發了，失落的艾弗雷德離開農場獨自進了城。農場的生活盡管又恢復了平靜，但是弟弟死亡的陰影始終讓崔斯汀無法面對他所深愛的蘇珊，崔斯汀后來離家遠航，他的身體才是他真正的帳篷，他走了，逃避了蘇珊的愛，卻帶走了蘇珊的心。
他去遠航，在波濤駭浪中尋找著心靈上的安寧。他去流浪，那顆狂野的心，也許真的如印地安老人所寓言，直到死亡才會停止追求自由的本色。
可是，在鴉片和女人中間，他變得更加茫然，漂泊的宿命有時候會讓他感到失望與沮喪。他又選擇回到了家鄉，回到了森林與河流，馬群與遠山的懷抱。
崔斯汀與伊莎貝結婚了。 那個從小就暗戀他的印地安女孩，笑起來會露出白白的牙齒。
他們有了自己的孩子，他們快樂的生活著，草原總是能賦予人們最簡單的幸福。 而崔斯汀忘了，他曾趕著奔騰的馬群從天邊走來，他曾經走進過一個女人的生命，留給她的卻是無盡的餓空虛與等待。
在多年以后，她成了他哥哥的妻子，隔著鐵柵欄，她輕輕地、憂傷地：永遠真的是太遠了。 她的愛情是低到塵埃里的花朵，低低的綻放。
激情與回憶，痛苦與纏綿似乎是燃燒著她生命的火把，她也知道他不會屬于她，他留給她的注定只能是眼淚和傷痕，可是她卻已經愛得無法自拔。 后來，伊莎貝被愚蠢的警察亂槍掃中，已經歸于平靜的崔斯汀內心再次燃起了火焰，在父親和哥哥的幫助下，他報了仇。
而仍然愛著崔斯汀的蘇珊無法面對自己的感情，她選擇了永遠的逃避。 崔斯汀的哥哥把蘇珊的遺體帶回了草原，一家人又團結在了一起。
