War Poem
MY SON HAS COME HOME
Daisy Santiago
My son came home from war the other day,
it seemed like forever;
as though this day would never come.
His body was whole,
but his mind still wandered of memories;
lost comrades who fought well;
and gave their all; who gave their last breath;
for country; for honor; for freedoms sake,
so that we could partake of another day.
Now we must remember
and keep the memory of those left behind,
still left to, fight; to stay alive.
We honor the memory of those who died
and gave their all, and pray for peace.
Maybe one day wars will cease.
The Eve Of Waterloo There was a sound of revelry by night,And Belgium's capital had gather'd thenHer Beauty and her Chivalry, and brightThe lamps shone o'er fair women and brave men;A thousand hearts beat happily; and whenMusic arose with its voluptuous swell,Soft eyes look'd love to eyes which spake again,And all went merry as a marriage bell;But hush! hark! a deep sound strikes like a rising knell!Did ye not hear it? —No; 'twas but the wind,Or the car rattling o'er the stony street;On with the dance! let joy be unconfined;No sleep till morn, when Youth and Pleasure meetTo chase the growing hours with flying feet—But, hark! — that heavy sound breaks in once more,As if the clouds its echo would repeat;And nearer, clearer, deadlier than before!Arm! arm! it is — it is —the cannon's opening roar!Ah! Then and there was hurrying to and fro,And gathering tears, and tremblings of distress,And cheeks all pale, which but an hour agoBlush'd at the praise of their own loveliness:And there were sudden partings, such as pressThe life from out young hearts, and choking sighsWhich ne'er might be repeated; who could guessIf ever more should meet those mutual eyes,Since upon night so sweet such awful morn could rise!And there was mounting in hot haste: the steed,The mustering squadron, and the clattering car,Went pouring forward with impetuous speed,And swiftly forming in the ranks of war;And the deep thunder peal on peal afar;And near, the beat of the alarming drumRoused up the soldier ere the morning star;While throng'd the citizens with terror dumb,Or whispering with white lips —'the foe! they come! they come!' Her Beauty and her Chivalry, and bright:布魯塞爾的英雄美人。
Her 指BrusselsVoluptuous[v /l ptu s ]swell 華麗的音樂旋律。
Soft eyes look'd love to eyes which spake again look:溫柔的眼睛與眼睛互相傳情。Look love:Look with love。
And all went merry as a marriage bell; a deep sound strikes like a rising knell:一個沉悶的聲音就像正在敲響的喪鐘一樣傳來。
Youth and Pleasure meet\To chase the growing hours with flying feet:
As if the clouds its echo would repeat;天上的云好像又把它的回聲有重復了一次:意即聲音很大,會響很久。Arm! arm! it is — it is —the cannon's opening roar!
cheeks all pale, which but an hour ago\ Blush'd at the praise of their own loveliness:
there were sudden partings, such as press\The life from out young hearts, choking sighs\ Which ne'er might be repeated;很可能永遠不會再有的抽搐嘆息。

While throng'd the citizens with terror dumb,市民們則擠在一起,被嚇成了啞巴。此句可改成:the citizens thronged, dumb with terror. 或者:The citizens dumb with terror thronged.

First,I tell you ,this poem is not my write,the writer is Alfred Noyes . To the RAF (RAF: Reyal armed forces) Never since English ships went out To singe the beard of Spain Or English sea-dogs hunted death Along the Spanish Main, Never since Drake and Raleigh won Our freedom of the seas, Have sons of Britain dared and done More valiantly than these. Whether at midnight or at noon, Through mist or open sky, Eagles of freedom, all our hearts Are up with you on high; While Britain's mighty ghosts look down From realms beyond the sun And whisper, as their record pales, Their breathless, deep, Well Done!。

A Hou Yi shot down nine of the sun, cool in the world. A missile shot down remnant stars, the enemy a shock. A nation majestic towers, people happy. A planet of war, our technology and ideas have been resolved. Yes , This is how we do.
