六年級學生已學習了近四年的英語，因此涉及了許多知識點。最基礎的是單詞、詞組和句子，應是我們復習的重點之一。而其中詞組是學習英語的關鍵，它是復習英語的良好途徑，同時又是學習句子的基礎，所以必須理解掌握。
句子是學習英語的重點，也是難點，尤其是各種不同的時態，如一般現在時、現在進行時、過去時和一般將來時，常常很困惑，所以必須加強這方面的語法復習和訓練。只有掌握了這四種時態下句子的特征，動詞變化的規律，他們才能以不變應萬變。比如，根據情況選擇或用所給詞的正確形式完成句子；按要求改寫句子；根據中文提示完成句子等。
另外，語音題——單詞辨音是穴，生成原因主要是發音不標準或不會把音素從單詞中分離出來，這需要耐細致訓練，適當的時候可以教學一點音標，更好地記憶單詞劃線部分的讀音，從而正確地進行判斷、選擇。
三、精心設計，有效練習
有效訓練是提高成績的保證，提高訓練實效。設計的練習其實主要可以分成兩類，一類是基礎知識訓練，如四會要求的單詞、詞組、句子的默寫訓練；另一類是針對考試中常見題型選編的一些題目，在適量的訓練中熟能生巧，掌握答題技巧。準備幾本優秀的習題集、試卷集，供我們參考、選擇，經過復印、剪貼和重組，就能得到最適合我們實際的練習，為達到有效的訓練目標創造條件。
四、注重反思，不斷優化
要確立“練后反思比練習更重要”的觀念。首先要建立錯題檔案，把練習中錯誤的題目集中到一個本子上，就要求把改寫句子、翻譯詞組等容易錯的題摘錄到一起，便于在一個階段后的反思、復習，真正做到讓“失敗”成為“成功之母”，減少在同一種題型上犯同樣的錯誤，并培養“舉一反三”的解題能力。另外，也要在練習后及時進行反思，依據錯誤，反思自己、訓練是否有效，反思練習設計的得失，并以此為依據設計下一次更為有效的訓練。
