I am currently a staff scientist at St Jude children's Research Hospital doing research in areas of stem cell biology, gene therapy and hematopoiesis. I had the pleasure to work with Li Hua in the same laboratory at the Beijing Institute of Basic Medical Sciences during the years of 1997-1999, when I was a research associate and Li Hua was a second year student pursuing his Masters Degree of Science.
Shortly after he started in the laboratory, I was deeply impressed by his sound mastering of basic knowledge in biomedical sciences. This was not quite a surprise because he graduated from one of the top universities in China. Li Hua quickly distinguished himself from other students in the Institute.
