lose是動詞；遺失， 浪費， 錯過， 輸去， 使失去， 使迷路， 使沉溺于
They lose many books just now.他們剛剛丟失了很多書。
lost是形容詞：失去的， 喪失的， 錯過的， 迷惑的， 不為人知的；
She was lost in the forest last night. 她昨晚在森林里迷路了
同時也是lose的過去式。
詞性不同，用法也就不同，跟漢語一樣。
*表示輸時的用法
lose可以及物，也可以不及物，也可以被動式。
lose的及物用法：
lose the game 輸掉比賽
lose the final 輸掉決賽
lose the battle 輸掉戰斗
lose the war 輸掉戰爭
lose the bet 輸掉賭注
lose the argument 輸掉爭論
lose不及物也完全可以：
we kept fighting but we still lost in the end 我們頑強拼搏，但最后還是輸了
have nothing to lose 赤腳的不怕穿鞋的
you lose 你輸了（玩過格斗游戲的，對電腦吐出的這句話多少都耳熟能詳吧）
lose也可以用被動式：
the war was lost 輸掉戰爭
the game was lost 輸掉比賽

1.弄丟的，遺失的
The lost ring was never found.
遺失的戒指再也沒有找到。
2.迷途的
He took the lost child to the policeman.
他把迷路的小孩領到警察那里。
3.逝去的；喪失的
She felt great grief over her lost youth.
她對逝去的青春感到極大的悲傷。
4.錯過的；浪費掉的；輸掉的
We must make up for the lost time.
我們必須彌補失去的時間。
5.滅亡的；被破壞的；死的

*的用法
lost 是動詞lose 的過去式和過去分詞的形式，過去分詞可以充當形容詞.
lose 作動詞的話，是及物動詞 ，如 ：I have lost a pen .
I lost a pen yesterday.
lose可以表示丟失，也可以表示輸了等意思，如： lose a pen ; lose the game , lose heart （失去信心）
lost作為過去分詞，可以表示迷失，相當于形容詞。美國的電視系列片就叫做： lost（迷失），還有電影 lost in translation （迷失東京），還有常用的詞組：be lost in thought （ 陷入沉思）

lose vt. 錯過 ， 浪費 （時間， 機會）They claim that police lost valuable time in the early part of the investigation。
他們聲稱警方在調查之初錯過了寶貴的時間。Six hours were lost in all. 一共浪費了6個小時If you don't do it soon you're going to lose the opportunity。
