鹽源縣是個多民族的縣，曾流傳著一個摩梭人牧羊女發現鹽井的傳說。
這女人在放牧羊群時， 看到羊群經常爭飲一個井里流出的鹽水。
她把這事告訴了漢族人，漢族人就到這里采鹽。
摩梭人責怪她把秘密告訴了漢人，便殺死了她。
后來，漢族人建造了一座廟來紀念她。
