Against:
1. Even if parents aren't punished by law for beating their children, the physical abuse could still cause long-lasting psychological problems and other ill effects.
2. Forced success is not real success. All children have rebellion in them. The high-pressure Wolf Dad approach may suppress the rebellion for some time, but it is going to manifest sooner of later.
3. Xiao's children may be really gifted, but Peking University is their father's dream, not necessarily theirs. By forcing them to make his dream come true, Xiao could have ruined bigger, more ambitions opportunities for his children.

我對于孩子價值觀的形成是非常重視的，在美國很多孩子會笑話有外國口音的孩子，我告訴我的孩子永遠不要笑話有口音的人，因為那是勇敢的標志，敢于來到一個陌生土地，用另外一個國家的語言說話，這是勇敢的標志，這一點恰恰是很多人忽視的。
楊瀾：你在書中提到過"富不過三代"這個問題，如何看待移民家族中的第三代呢？
蔡美兒：一般第三代移民不會為生存而擔憂，更容易放縱自己，放棄學業，肆意揮霍。我的兩個女兒，她們在物質條件非常好的情況下成長，我不希望把她們教成自私自利，只在乎自己不在乎別人的第三代，如果自私自利不可能對社會有任何貢獻，她們自己的生活、婚姻也都不會開心。而今天的中國很多家長就面臨著這些問題，孩子在這樣一個環境中成長，我覺得許多中國家長應當反思。
楊瀾：如何看待孩子的快樂與成功？
蔡美兒：很多人只看到我給女兒的那些規定而產生誤解，但實際上我的書是為了讓父母給孩子們更多空間去追求自己的興趣，并去傾聽她們的需求。如果讓我在快樂與成功之間選擇，我會選擇快樂，但兩者必須是相輔相成的。
