黃色的樹林里分出兩條路,
可惜我不能同時去涉足,
我在那路口久久佇立,
我向著一條路極目望去,

創作背景:
《未選擇的路》的靈感來自作者羅伯特·弗羅斯特對他在英國最好的朋友愛德華·托馬斯經常做的一件事情的善意玩笑。
弗羅斯特經常與托馬斯在鄉間散步:托馬斯不停地想要選擇一條可以使他向他的美國朋友展示某種奇異的植物或者奇特的風景的路。
但是,每次散完步,托馬斯都要為做出的選擇后悔,為如果他們選擇“更好的”方向他本來可以向弗羅斯特展現的那些事物而長吁短嘆。
